These are physical postures that can be performed individually or in sequence.  Each position activates the muscles and loosens the joints, stimulates the internal organs, revitalizes apparatuses and systems. And that's not all.  In order for the asana to be realized it is necessary to reach a state of concentration where the waves of thought are inhibited. Without concentration there is no asana.

It is the breath, the elective tool of yoga, that leads us into the dimension of mental stillness, the only dimension capable of revealing the profound and extraordinarily transformative meaning of the asana.
